If you are in Chicago durning the month of April stop by the North American Photobloggers' Meetup!
Guess who all the tourists are in Kyoto, Japan? The Japanese! Seriously, like 99% of the umbrellas on the image's left belong to Japanese tourists.

Check out http://www.bandwmag.com/. You see me listed as a Merit Award winner. I received my complimentary special edition while on the road; it is pretty cool - a two page spread featuring three pics: The River Styx, The Life of Sand & Fog, & Railway of Life.

Epitomises my 'ideal' Japan, before I visited and realised that it's an incredibly diverse place!

Cool image! Great processing!

Nice processing. personally I dont really find Kinkakuji that interesting. You've managed to hide the gaudiness of the colours well. It's sister temple is by far and away the more lauded of the two and for good reason I reckon. As for the post card-iness of the image, I agree. My wife actually has an almost identical image stuck on the fridge.

very elegant composition an choice of tones!

Wow you've done such a great job on the processing with this picture. The cropping is just right. I'm glad you've sepia treated this because the temple is too bright and would really take away from the surroundings if it was in colour.

Again color, composition and cultural aspects wonderfully done.

Beautiful, just beautiful...everything about it, the perspective, the angle, the composition, the exposure...the sepia works very well here too. Nice job, it's quite a shot.
