I do not know if you used the HDR but if it is the case you made it frivolously and it is very so. A very beautiful landscape for which the black and the white is perfectly

Beautiful landscape picture in BW.
It could be that the foreground is lighter considering the contrast on the mountains but there is not a "photomatix look" to the picture.

This is a high contrast scene. You have whites, and you have blacks, with a range of tones in between. I would have shot this for HDR for sure! Now does your question refer to the way you shot the scene, or to the way you processed it? There is more than one way to do this. I do not think this scene looks tone-mapped, btw.
