Hofburg Palace

One of the entrances to the Hofburg Palace in Vienna. The Hofburgs ruled Austria as Holy Roman Emperors and later simply as Emperors of Austria for six centuries.

As Voltaire once quipped, the Holy Roman Empire was ...neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.
